Shipping Logistics
We still rely on air freight for 40% of orders. Goal: Switch to carbon-neutral shipping partners by Q4 2026.
We haven't fixed the industry, but we're cleaning up our corner of it. Here is an honest look at where we stand in 2026.
In 2026, we stopped using the term "100% Sustainable" because, frankly, no new product is strictly good for the planet. Instead, we focus on Harm Reduction. We are moving from mined gold to recycled gold (currently at 82%), and shifting our packaging to be home-compostable. We are proud of our progress, but we are nowhere near done.
In a world of disposable fashion, the most responsible thing we can do is make jewelry that lasts a lifetime. We reject mass assembly lines. Instead, every Heartlume custom piece is hand-finished by master jewelers who are paid living wages— on average 35% above the industry standard. We take longer to make your ring, so you never have to replace it.
See the processWe don't just donate to big charities. We built our own micro-grant program for female artisans in our supply chain. 5% of our annual net profit goes directly to funding tools, childcare, and business education for the hands that polish your jewelry.
See the processAre we 100% plastic-free yet? Not quite—we're at 95%. The shipping labels and some tape still challenge us, but your unboxing experience is now entirely compostable or recyclable. We're working on that last 5% by 2027.

Our silver is 80% recycled, but small components (clasps) are still mined. We are looking for new suppliers.
Our HQ is solar-powered, but our remote team's energy usage is harder to track and offset.
We publish our full audit reports quarterly. No fluff, just numbers.
